Waanzin exposition 2013

The Waanzin exposition took place in june 2013. We worked together with the Antwerp based organization Scheld’apen and they provided the beautiful location, a big old hangar. Together with five friends and fellow graphic design students (Linde Luyten, An Onghena, Line Broeckx, Freya Clijmans en Tille Lingier) we put this exhibition together. The six of us chose to work around the theme of madness (Waanzin in Dutch), but we all filled it in in a different way. The exposition was only open during one weekend. It started on friday with a crouded but cozy vernissage with good food and free drinks. Nunki played a charming set that fitted the evening completely. The vernissage ended with a superb afterparty. On saturday and sunday the exhibition was open for visitors during the day.

BYOB exhibition 2013

BYOB stands for Bring Your Own Beamer. The BYOB event was created by artist Rafael Rozendaal and exists of a gathering of filmmakers that show their movies on their own beamers. This effects in a beautiful, extraordinary scene of dark rooms in which the movies are displayed on all sides of the walls, even on the ground and the ceiling.

Linde Luyten organized the first BYOB event in Antwerp at the Museum for contemporary Art, M HKA. This was the one I participated at, with a typographic black and white movie.

Design Week, Otis College of Art & Design, Los Angeles, California

In june 2014 I went together with Linde Luyten for ten days to America. Two students of St-Lucas Antwerp were invited to visit Otis College of Art & Design in Los Angeles and attend Design Week. Design Week consists of days full of workshops, given by well know international designers like: Felix Pfaffli, Cox & Grusenmeyer, Lava, Richard Niessen, Project Projects en Type Radio.

Workshop 'Deadline: Tonight!' by Cox & Grusenmeyer

Tijdens During the three-day workshop ‚Deadline: Tonight!’ we were given the job of an editor and we had to make three analog transformations of existing printed publications. For example: they gave us a fashion magazine like Vogue and we had to transform it (by cutting and pasting) into a puzzle book. It was important that we did not use a computer, so everything was manually made. This in combination with tough deadlines led to surprising results. We ended the workshop by giving an exhibition with all the books and the end result was one big catalogue that consisted of all the pieces.

Workshop by Richard Niessen (Niessen & de Vries)

During the three-day workshop of Richard Niessen we individually made large banners. Again completely manually, by cutting and pasting. Each banner describes a gift for which we are grateful to have received it from a particular person. Eventually all the banners were brought together in one big, colorful, spectacular building.

Exhibiton 'Een meubel is ook een huis' 2016

Together with textile designers Marie Mees and Cathérine Biasiono, I designed and made the cushions for the installation of Marie-José Van Hee at the exhibition 'Een meubel is ook een huis' at the Design museum in Ghent.

About the exhibition: M.J. Van Hee, Robbrecht & Daem Architects, Christian Kieckens and Marc Dubois: five architects, who all graduated in Ghent in 1974, can be considered protagonists of a generation. The exhibition explores their views on interior and furniture designs.  A keen interest in construction history, the relationship with art and, above all, craftsmanship characterize their buildings and are the building blocks for their interior and furniture design.

Happily Ever After

Exposition 'Happily Ever After' 2016

The 'Happily Ever After' exposition took place in september 2016, three years after the Waanzin exposition. We worked together with the Antwerp based organization POD Platform and they provided the beautiful location. Together with six friends and fellow old graphic design students (Linde Luyten, An Onghena, Line Broeckx, Freya Clijmans, Lieze Huybrechts en Tille Lingier) we put this exhibition together. We wanted to show how our work evolved after three years and how divers graphic design can be.

Exhibiton 'The Pliable Moment', at the Dutch Design Week 2016

I participated at the exhibition 'The Pliable Moment' at Da Fabriek in Eindhoven. The exhibition was part of the Dutch Design week in Eindhoven 2016.

Exhibiton Young and MAD at Dansaert 2016

I was selected to be a part of the exhibition 'Young and MAD' in Brussels.

About the exhibition: With "Young and MAD" fusion of Mode Parcours and the old prize for young Belgian designers "MADSurprize!", MAD Brussels is providing a weekend event from October 20 to 23 in Dansaert!
For the first time ever in our capital, Belgian fashion and design will join under artistic direction of Jean-Paul Lespagnard!
With this new event, MAD Brussels wants to join these two creative sectors, allowing professionals and the public to interact and to discover or rediscover the avant-garde Dansaert district, while having the opportunity to witness the creativity, expertise and potential of the new generation of Belgian designers!
